GISHMAS 2019 – Item 1 – Stocking Run

It’s time for the annual GISHMAS Stocking Run! Fill small holiday stockings, packages, or bundles with necessities like socks, water, food, mittens, etc and a few small, joyful things (small stuffed animals, playing cards, paperback books, candy, a greeting card… you get the idea) for people experiencing homelessness. Then, hang them up in an area where they will be found or if you prefer, hand them out in person to those in need.

Item 147 – #WeJustMetGala

COLLABORATIVE. The evening of Sunday, July 28 is the event of the year: the #WeJustMetGala! Get together with Gishers in your area at your local museum in the strangest, fanciest attire you can create—go so all-out, you make Billy Porter jealous. Roll out the red carpet and a banner, then convince strangers passing by to pose with you for red carpet pictures. Be fabulous! We must see the museum in the background, and there must be paparazzi. Post your images and videos to social media and tag #WeJustMetGala, #GISH & @theebillyporter, then submit your image or video to us with the link to your social media post in the comments.

Item 57 – Send Noods

Send noods! There’s been an epidemic of people sending explicit noodle photos to unsuspecting people. We believe consent is important, and in this case, we consent—with some STRICT caveats: Recreate a TASTEFUL image of a famous nude painting or sculpture in noodles ONLY and then post it on social media tagged #SendNoods. Submit your actual image and a link to the tweet in your comments.

Item 101 – Time Magazine GISH Person of the Year

Recent public personalities have been known to fake a Time magazine cover, which is terribly vain… but admittedly makes for great promotion. Jump on the bandwagon and award someone you admire a Person of the Year cover! Create a replica of Person of the Year Time cover shot of your friend or loved one, captioned with one thing that they have done that makes them remarkable or unique. It can be broadly significant, like “She selflessly teaches dozens of children each year!” or it can be subtle “best tooth flosser in America”. When you’re done, tweet it to @time with #GISHPersonOfTheYear

Item 10 – GISH Global Secret Santa

It’s time for GISH Global Secret Santa. Create a list of 10 things you wish you had that would make your life (or the life of someone you love) easier. Make sure you have some inexpensive things in there. Post this list in the “FAVORITE QUOTE” section of your profile on the GISH app. Then, click around app users near you to look for their wishlists. Try to find one that has an item that you have (or that you can acquire) and give it to them to make their life easier. Contact that gisher and tell them you want to gift them one of their items. Post an image of the gisher with the item you gave them before the end of the hunt (with a sign that has their username). Not on the GISH app? Tweet your suggestion with #gishwhes. I suggest it be the following theme: Voyager 1 ran to the store and you are texting to remind it to pick something up at the store. THIS ITEM MUST BE POSTED ON SOCIAL MEDIA PRIOR TO THE END OF THE HUNT! During the First Annual and Last Ever 2017 gishwhes Tea Party, we identified gishers based on their right-brush or left-brush toothbrushing statuses. Conduct a massive poll on your social networks for the gishwhes Institute of Vital Statistics to prove conclusively whether people brush their teeth starting on the same side of their mouth as their dominant hand or the opposite side. Because this is solid science, your sample size must have a minimum of 400 respondents. Submit a visually-compelling graph of your poll data and the number of votes and the winner.
